After I qualified, I worked with trauma for a good five years before realizing I was missing something. People would tell me their stories, and of course I would listen, validate, reframe, perhaps add in a few strategies… but I knew something was missing.
EMDR was really gaining popularity back in 2017, when I complete parts 1 and 2 of my training, so I read some of the evidence base, watched a few videos, and decided to give it a go.
The training blew me away. After the first day, I knew I was discovering something really special, something that could add that all important ingredient when it came to helping people move on from trauma and live happier more fulfilled lives.
Now, I use EMDR regularly in my clinical practice, supporting clients with an array of difficulties to break free from their past.
